Trent worked about 45 minutes away, but luckily a good friend, Julie, happened to be at the hospital getting blood work done. I calmly waited for her to have blood drawn - a process that took longer than it should have in my opinion...since I was in labor and all. Then we calmly strolled over the hospital, filled out paper work (only after we tried to enter my birthing room without any paper work at all.) All the time, I felt absolutely nothing abnormal and was cool and calm.
I finally dressed down into my gown, received my epidural, and hopped in bed, turned on the tv, and spent the next few hours napping and watching American Idol with Trent. Finally the doc came in and told me it was time to push. In between contractions we would carry on conversations about the churches we attend. She told me she never had a patient that smiled so much during birth. I literally felt nothing at all. I didn't even know if I was pushing or not. It was grand.
15 minutes later, Paisley arrived at 11:00 pm on the dot. She was 7 lbs even and 19 1/2 inches long. She was perfect and had a lot of hair!
Our first time holding Miss P
I could post a billion pictures of her first few days, but this post is not about her birth day.
It is about her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!
We started out the day with a birthday waffle.
I did not have real birthday candles on hand, so I improvised by using one of my bath candles.
I think this was the first time it has ever been lit.
Then P played with her new wagon from Gram and Pap.
It was too cold to go outside this morning, so we played inside.
She enjoyed pushing it from the side and making it rotate in a circle, over and over.
Someone should tell her this is not safe!
She played in her tent,
but really this pic is to show you the mullet that is happening in the back of her head.
We skyped with Aunt Kami, Caleb and Carly!
She opened all of her birthday cards.
P did not know what to think about her card from Nana, which was also a panda mask.
We have loved the first year with our daughter.
We can't wait to see what the next year holds for her and our family.
WE LOVE YOU, PAISLEY!

love the last picture!!!!
