Gram & Pap

It rained in Earth, Texas, so Gram & Pap were able to get away from the farm for a few days.
We were very excited for their visit, especially Miss P.
Gram & Pap had not seen P since Easter, so they were in for an adventure!

P, of course, had to get in her pool.  We don't even bother with a swimsuit anymore unless we have visitors (that are not family).  She gets in for about 5 minutes, then out, then back in, then out again.

A little chase in the yard with the water hose.

We had dinner on Lake Hefner.
Paisley was the Belle of the Ball.

Waving to her new friends.  She makes friends wherever she goes.

Trent and I are working on a play kitchen for P.  Though it is not complete, the major construction part is finished, so we went ahead and moved it in to P's room.  Keep your eyes peeled for a new blog when the kitchen is totally done!  Until then, I think P is enjoying her new kitchen.

Gram & Pap spoiled P with some play food & kitchen utensils.

Bath time is always more fun with bubbles!

Time for church! Daddy put my boots on!

We had a lovely time with Gram & Pap.  We are sad they couldn't stay longer.

In other news, P is saying a lot of new words.  They aren't always understandable, but her vocabulary is growing daily it seems, and she is copying a lot of sounds she hears from mommy & daddy.
Her favorite word is "nana" for banana.  SHE LOVES BANANAS!
She will say "nana" over and over and over again.
Her other favorite words are "go", "please", "woof woof", "shoes" and of course "da da" and "no!"
Trent and I try real hard to only say "no maam" in hopes that she would think that was one word and say it together, but despite our efforts, she somehow she figured out the English language and was able to separate the word "no" from the word "maam".

We are currently working on the words "thank" and "you"...together.

Baby Boom

Our neighborhood puts on quite the production for the Fourth of July.
They don't mess around.
Here is a summary of how we celebrated our nation's birthday.

First and most importantly, I made sure I took plenty of pictures of P.
I may be bias, but I think she's stinkin' cute!

We strolled down to the pool for our first event of the day:
The first annual Red, White, and BOOM 5K in our neighborhood.

After the race, the children lined up outside our house for the neighborhood parade.
We just watched this year, but P had a grand ol' time waving to the participants.

Next up, we followed the parade to the baseball field for kids' games.
P wasn't old enough to play yet, but she enjoyed watching.

The fire department sent some volunteers for our enjoyment.
P especially liked their mascot.

She would not take her eyes off of him!

After the games, we headed home for some much needed naps. All of us!
But it wasn't long before we were at it again.

Our neighbor gave us this sweet pool.  P absolutely LOVED it.
And what would the 4th of July be without swimming?

This picture cracks me up.
I swear she was perfectly fine and having a great time!

The festivities in our neighborhood kicked back up again with this event:

Yup, a belly flop contest.

And what 4th of July celebration would be complete without one of these?

A lawn mower race to conclude the day's activities.

Not pictures are the countless hours of fireworks that were shot off
the entire week and weeks prior to this celebration.
We have fireworks explode in our hood on a regular basis,
and though they are impressive, especially on the fourth,
we were absolutely pooped and defaulted to our bed instead.
I know, Bah-hum-bug.
In our defense, we did stay up to watch the fireworks that were shot off Tuesday night.

All in all, we had a fun-filled day.
I can't wait for next year when P can participate more
and realize what a cool neighborhood she lives in.
