Home Sweet Longview

This weekend we traveled to Longview to see some of our best friends.

It was such a blessing to be able to celebrate P's first birthday with the same friends
that were there one year ago helping us celebrate her arrival.

It was also a blessing that P got to ride in her new big girl car seat for the long drive.
She was quite comfortable and slept very well.
Mom and Dad were pleased.

We stayed with our good friends, Julie and Brad, and their son Braden.
Braden is a riot.  He entertained us with many songs, including "Red Solo Cup".

He surprised me the first evening.
I started P's bath and in walks Braden.  He strips down and joined P in the tub.
I said, "Braden, does your mom know you are in here?"  He said, "Yep. She told me to take a bath."
Of course, that was not the case.  Julie came in and just laughed!
Braden would get up and walk across the tub and wave his heiny (and other parts)
in P's face not even aware of his gestures.  SOOOO FUNNY!

Trent and Braden got to play video games
while the ladies went shopping for P's birthday photo shoot.

Julie, Brad, and Braden got P some big stacking cups for her birthday.
Braden was a pro at stacking them and knocking them down.

Peyton, "Aunt P", also got a chance to teach P how to build a tall tower.

And "Uncle Jordan" got a chance to teach P all about the Dallas Cowboys.
This book is actually a gift from the Parish's to their future baby.
(No, they are not currently expecting, but I saw the book and couldn't pass it up.)

Aunt P and Uncle Jordan had a gift of their own to give Sweet P.

THE TICKLE MONSTER!

We went over to Peyton and Jordan's house for burgers on Sunday.
I spilled an entire pitcher of salsa all over their kitchen floor.
For any of you who know Jordan, you will understand that I immediately became scared for my life.
It is a good thing he has a man crush on my husband and adores my child,
otherwise I might have been banned from their house forever.

P also got a super cute dress from the Lackey family.  She was fond of the bag it came in also.
And thanks to some wonderful babysitters, the adults were able to go out!

Luckily, the Phillips family made it home from their vacation to spend a little bit of time with us.
Quinn and P locked eyes and I hear music playing.

Kanyon, P, and Quinn were very exhausted by this time.
They spent the afternoon fighting over goldfish crackers.

I am so glad I got to spend time with all of my friends.
I was even able to visit the school where I taught last year.
All of my teacher friends were very excited to see P.
They were all there to help me out when I was pregnant and then on maternity leave,
and now they got to see Paisley one year later.

So I mentioned there was a photo shoot for P's first birthday.
Thanks to Julie's amazing photography skills, we ended up with some great shots.
My friend Brandy is nice enough to edit some of them for me.

I will leave you with a sneak peak of P's first birthday photo shoot:

Paisley, the Pacifist

P must sleep with a pacifier.
We are so lucky that we have a daughter who sleeps at least 12 hours through the night...
as long as she is able to find a pacifier.
Someone once told me to just throw several in her crib and she is bound to find one.
Well, we throw about SIX in her crib every night.
It has been very successful.
She sleeps with one in her mouth, and the others... well...

She must hold them all.
This is how I find her every morning when I go to get her out of bed.

And then she must sample them all.
If she has one in her mouth, she will take it out and trade it for another.

I'm beginning to think that holding one in her hand is just as soothing to her as the one in her mouth.
She loves her pacifiers, and that is OK by me!
They have allowed me many wonderful night's sleep
(once she was actually able to put them back in her mouth herself.)

Since this post was about her pacifiers, I thought I would break out one more "special" pacifier.

We bought this pacifier before she was born as a joke knowing one day she would have big teeth
like her mommy and daddy.

My Sweet Valentine

This morning P did not eat pancakes for breakfast.
She ate something much tastier!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Thanks Gram & Pap for the yummie cupcakes!

Sincerely, Paisley

First Snow!

P got her first real snow last night.
And like any normal person, she was very eager to see it this morning.
So eager that she woke up an hour and a half earlier than normal.
Mom was not as thrilled, but decided to take her out for some pictures before it melts.

At this point, P was getting a little upset.
Turns out she doesn't like cold and wet.

Here are some views from our back porch.
I think we only got about an inch in Edmond.

I was tempted to build a snowman, but much like P,
I don't like cold and wet!
I think I will just stay in and enjoy the view from the window.

This and That

Paisley has gotten pretty good at finding her toys in her new toy box.

It reminds me of "the claw" arcade game.
This time she came out a winner!

Paisley helps Dad play music.

Love it.

Gram and Pap came to visit to celebrate V-Day, Trent's birthday, and P's birthday.
Gram was successful at getting P to take 5 steps!!!!
However, she used chocolate to bribe her.
"WILL WALK FOR CHOCOLATE"

Pap was also able to get her to take a step or two by waving her baby wipes in the air.
Chocolate, baby wipes...tomato, tomotto.

This was dinner tonight.
She somehow managed to eat THE ENTIRE CAN of beef-o-roni.
Harley is patiently waiting for leftovers.  Unfortunately there were none.

YUCK!!!
I fear she might have a terrible stomach ache tonight.

Her belly is full all right.
My goodness!

Meet Paisley

P has a new friend. Guess what her name is.
That's right.
Our Sunday school teacher's daughter's name happens to be Paisley.
P has enjoyed playing with her at our play dates.
Perhaps they will become great friends...or double trouble!

New Tricks

Well, I was hoping to upload some video of P walking today, but that is not the case.  P did indeed take a few baby steps today.  I don't think she was aware that she did it and probably won't do it on purpose for a little while longer.  She's such a stinker.

However, P did try a few other new tricks today.

I guess she thought her foot would taste better than what Mom made her for lunch.

But now she's mad because she can't get it back down.
Stinker!

Uhm, I don't think that's how this works.
I swear she did this all by herself.

And here she is on the way back down.
Stinker!
